The SkiTips Series
For most of the past year we have been working closely with Martin Heckelman, the well-respected international Ski-Instructor and writer, to transport his talents and wealth of experience to the small screen – and we think we’ve succeeded. Marty was one of the first ‘Ski-Maestros’ to successfully bring ski-teaching to print and he followed that up with enormous success with a series of Videos and DVDs. With the new technology offered by the new mobile devices, we’ve taken that experience and expanded it to a completely new level. Starting with the solid foundation of Marty’s well tried and tested methods, we’ve created a truly multi-media product, integrating text, video and audio into the same structure to produce a full-on, immersive learning experience.
SkiTips 1
Ski Tips 1 is intended for all levels of skiers and especially for beginners & intermediates.
This App has been created to help you learn to ski well. It teaches all the fundamental skiing skills required to turn & control your skis. It can be used as both a self teaching aide and as a supplement to ski lessons. If you are having lessons, I recommend that you watch the App before your lessons & then use the App afterwards to practice what you were taught during your lessons.
SkiTips 2
Ski Tips 2 is intended for intermediates and advanced skiers.
To become a good, advanced skier you should be able to carve turns on all the runs on the mountain. The first section teaches how to achieve that. It explains & demonstrates how to execute short & medium radius turns and shows how to ski varied radius turns.

SkiTips3 – Powder & Off-Piste skiing
This App teaches how to ski powder & difficult off-piste snow conditions. Using freeze frames & slow motion sequences it teaches all the many different ways of initiating & turning in untracked snow and demonstrates the common errors to be avoided. It starts with the down-up-down powder turn, which is the basic turn that every powder skier should master. It then teaches how to turn in difficult snow conditions such as heavy snow, wet snow & breakable crust using Jump Turns, Jet Turns, Anticipation, Banking, Counter turns, Modified avalement & “Punching”.
Apps launch on February 1st
We are proud to announce the launch on February 1st of our first two Apps in the SkiTips skiing series, SkiTips1 The Fundamentals of Skiing and SkiTips2 Advanced Skiing Techniques. And we hope to be able to announce soon the third App in the series, currently under completion. SkiTips for the iPhone sets new standards in Sports instruction enabling for the first time skiers to take all of their instructional media out on the slopes with them.
We are also collaborating with a number of other established talents in the fields of sports and other instruction, the theatre and the arts to publish a wide range of further Apps in the course of this year. Watch this space!
